Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that has many benefits to our overall health. Let's look at type 2 diabetes as an example. One of the concerns that makes type 2 diabetes hard to manage is hyperglycemia induced oxidative stress. There was a study that looked at Type 2 diabetes and the effectiveness of supplementation with glutathione during anti-diabetic treatment. Glutathione supplementation caused a significant increase in blood glutathione and helped maintain the baseline HbA1c overall. The results suggested glutathione supplementation is of considerable benefit when complemented with anti-diabetic therapy to achieve better glycemic targets especially in the elderly population due to the body's limited ability to formulate it as we get older.
The deficiency in the production of glutathione can lead to break down of red blood cells, enlargement of the spleen, gall stones and after many years can lead to mental deterioration. Glutathione is known to help digestion in GI tract inflammation disease processes and supplementation to anti-aging. If young and healthy your body should produce enough of the antioxidant, unless you work out often or vigorously...then supplementation can help with recovery from oxidative free radicals; which can sometimes lead to muscle fatigue and decrease muscle performance.
I know if my muscles and joints are hurting, it hits my mental on going back to the gym, but if I feel good I have more positive motivation to go again and continue. Recovery is super important in exercise and glutathione is one way to help achieve that goal!
Glutathione is one of the most potent antioxidants in the body that helps repair damaged cells caused by a host of different (read articles attached below) reasons that cause oxidative stress. It also plays an extremely important role in protecting hepatocytes (liver cells), erythrocytes (red blood cells that carry oxygen to the vital organs etc), and protects other cells against toxic injury.
Some illnesses that supplementation with glutathione may help with in conjunction with an established plan of care by your doctor include but are not limited to: a number of acute and chronic human diseases, including neurodegenerative diseases (brain) , cancer, cystic fibrosis, cardiovascular, inflammatory disease processes, immunodeficiency disease processes, metabolic disease processes, and aging related diseases.
Lastly, glutathione is absorbed poorly orally so definitely get this super antioxidant IV. Keep in mind the major enhancer of glutathione synthesis is vitamin C (Ascorbic acid).
