What is health to you? Health can carry very different meanings from one person to another. To me, health is balancing the mind, body, and spirit in order to live a balanced life with more energy while preventing potential injury or illness. What we eat, what we drink, how active we are, how we take care of ourselves, and what we expose ourselves in our environment affect our health and well being. We have to find a balance in order to remain healthy in our best form.
Balancing life and how we take care of ourselves is a constant challenge that we all face. I often find it hard to balance all of these things myself. The important thing to remember is that life happens and that's ok. We will not always maintain perfect balance, but we are a work in progress of creating our best self. It is not important that we may fail from time to time balancing our lifestyle. What is important is how we react to things that come up that knock us out of balance.
Think of balance as a marathon and our health as car maintenance.
Balance can only be achieved through making many small changes over a period of time to create a healthy lifestyle. To run a marathon we need to practice and train to make it through the long distance. Small changes over time creating healthier lifestyle choices over the course of life will lead to increased balance and health over the life time. Life can happen and no matter how well we are taking care of ourselves health conditions or injuries can pop up. That is why, in addition to lifestyle changes to create balance we also need to have regular check-ups to ensure that we are "running" like a finely tuned engine. We don't buy a vehicle and expect to never take it in for a tune up. We spent money on that vehicle and understand we need to keep it maintained in order for it to continue to look good and run efficiently for a longer period of time. The same is true with our bodies. We must regularly maintain our body in order to run longer and more efficiently over our life time. There are many small ways we can make small changes to find balance and health over a lifetime. Stay tuned for future blogs on some of these ways :)
PRAISE. ENCOURAGE. STAY POSITIVE. FOCUS. PURPOSE. LIFESTYLE.
