Health & Time: Benefits of Homemade Salsa Making with the Family


One of the healthiest things we can do is make foods ourselves! You have full control of the ingredients that are placed in the foods your family eats! We bought some organic veggies and made our own salsa this week as a family! We are avoiding buying processed foods as much as possible. Our family loves the taste of our salsa recipe that has been passed down from my mom.

There are many benefits:

1. Healthier foods (avoiding preservatives and unwanted toxic chemicals in your food)

2. Fun time spending with family (the girls love to help and the boys love to be my taste testers)

3. Healthy Snack and easy Flavor (it made close to 20 jars of salsa that can be used as condiment, side, or healthy snack)

4. Benefits of eating fresh vegetables (low calories, high fiber, high vitamins and nutrients)

The process can take some time, but doing it together as a family has given us quality time together to make great memories as well as healthier food and set the kids up for success in learning a sustainable skill that they can use for the rest of their lives!! It's a win-win!
